02 Sep All About Eggs

Bent Arrow's eggs are getting lots of praise! Hear what people are saying and learn how to get some for your kitchen!

The other week Adam shared our laying ladies, who we love so much, on YouTube. As much as we love the sweet hens, we also love their eggs!

I don’t think I will ever get tired of taking photos of them.

And, even just washing them- despite being a tedious chore- is fun because you get to see the beauty and the uniqueness of each egg.

We also love to cook and eat them.

Every week I hard boil a dozen to have in the refrigerator for a quick snack or on the go breakfast. A frittata or quiche is on our dinner menu at least every other week. Brunch is a staple at our house on Sundays. And, Theo loves eggs any way he can get them… scrambled, over easy, you name it!

And, it seems like you are loving them too! We have had many customers from the farmer’s market share their love for Bent Arrow’s eggs. Hearing your stories and comments are so fun.

From images of your own brunch to excited double yolk texts, we don’t get tired of it.

One of my favorite stories comes from a couple at the market that let us know that they love to make Eggs Benedict. Eggs Benedict involves poaching an egg which requires a touch of knowledge and skill… and also requires good eggs. Without them, the consistency will be off or the yolk will not break as it’s intended. They shared that they have tried a lot of eggs and were disappointed, but our eggs passed their Eggs Benedict test with flying colors!

A popular question from the market that has been asked recently is, “How can I get Bent Arrow eggs after the market season?”

The hens will lay eggs all winter, so there are plenty of eggs to go around (Theo can’t eat them all!). Here there are a few options:

– We are in talks with a local to the Kokomo area grocery story, so stay tuned for more details on where you can get them as you do your typical grocery shop.

– Anyone can coordinate with us to pick up at the farm. We are pretty flexible throughout the week and could even meet up somewhere in Kokomo.

– And, as of this week we are back on marketwagon.com. Market Wagon was formally farmersmarket.com and is an online farmer’s market featuring products from food artisans and growers all over Indiana. Items ordered can be delivered to your home or to a pick up location near your house.

– But, don’t worry! There are still six more Saturday Farmer’s Markets in the season. We will see you a Kokomo’s Downtown Farmers’ Market… with plenty of eggs!
