09 Jan Snowy French Toast

They are calling for snow, so you better stock up to make French Toast!

There’s a running joke in the Midwest that everyone makes French toast whenever there is a big snowstorm or extreme cold in the forecast. This is because grocery stores run out of bread, eggs and milk- the three main ingredients in French toast first.

Personally, when I hear the threat of snow, I rush out to get stocked up on red wine.

Now that we are more involved with the retail side of things and the weather in Indiana got bitterly cold, turns out the joke is on me.

I can’t speak for the milk or bread but we have seen Bent Arrow’s eggs sell so fast during the recent poor weather. We have had to replenish stores multiple times a week. It’s exciting and a little wild.

So, during the recent cold blast, I passed on red wine and opted for some French Toast to see what all the buzz is about. Turns out, pretty easy and pretty good for cold weather. Cozy and sweet with the zing of wintery spices like cinnamon and nutmeg.

And, good news! Looks like there is another winter storm in the forecast for this weekend so stock up on eggs at marketwagon.com, Waddell’s IGA in Russiaville or at the farm so you can stay in and make French Toast.
